A classic and ultra hard to find "semi official" Mercyful Fate classic Fan club recording. Originally released for a short period in the mid 1980"s, this vinyl LP became part of the folklore of one of the greatest black metal acts of all time. The story behind this release is cloaked in mystery and intrigue. Most 'experts" on the band consider it to be a true fan club release, but there is more to the story.
The very strong rumour is that the bands original manager passed these tapes to a "legitimate" and actually well known label in ..let's say, "One of the Benelux countries". Hoping to clear it as a totally official release, the label realized that there would be contractual problems with the band and their official labels, Roadrunner and Music For Nations. A compromise was reached where a new "semi official sub label" was created. (Satans Nightmare Records). The album went out through normal distribution channels, (even the biggest wholesaler in Europe at the time sold it to various shops and mailorder companies). The legendary "Shades Records" shop in London sold over 500 of each! But suddenly, and without warning, it was deleted. Was it because of pressure from the band or their label? Maybe we shall never know. Originals fare now fetching up to 150 USD, even in used condition. Don't miss out on your copies, once this is gone that's it! A guaranteed collectible for the future. Hail Satan!
