Enslaved's second majestic opus, much faster, more uncontrolled and chaotic than what had come before, and an album that not only firmly established their style, but one that laid the foundation for their future evolution. 'Frost' planted a flag straight in the ground for music referring both to an essential inspiration from Nature and the Pagan pantheism/nationalism which is so integral to the spiritual center of Norwegian black metal. If you think of Enslaved's albums all lined up in a row, and carrying with them, as avatars, something of the character of an ancient archetype in their very essence, this record, 'Frost', is the Warrior of Enslaved's soul, the force which they use to dominate. Overpowering, anthemic, attacking black metal, like an icestorm in your head...a classic.
