Immortal's fifth critically acclaimed album, beginning the ascendency of Abbath in the band, and trading in their incredibly harsh high-speed black metal attack for a more heavy-metal influenced style, with an increased concentration on building songs around really strong, catchy riffs. A lot more 'traditional' than the past albums, but still highlighting their extremely cold, frostbitten, cruelly dark sense of melody and an outright, undeniable aggression.
