As expected, the traditional Swedish Death Metal sound dominates this recording, but TPFDT brings a lot more to the table, both sonically and aesthetically. The catchy yet ominous riffing keeps "Svartnad" in an aggressive forward motion from start to finish. The doomy parts fit the lyrical themes of introvert darkness and despair perfectly, and the fast parts borrow their fury from the Black Metal territories. The words are being spat out with stomach churning rage and blood curling conviction. All these elements are woven together with interesting song writing and a rare sense of melancholic melody that never gets predictable or stale.
