Strixskog was originally founded by Aerendraca, and the lineup was consistently changing over several years. The band further experimented with different genres and started with dungeon synth and dark ambient albums. However, it recently released a new record that set a new vision and approach to the music and style. The Hell We Have Chosen is an epitaph for modern life and society, and it is a call for repentance and inner change. The album art was done by Anna "Crimson Soil" Bantle, and it depicted flagellants during the act of penance. This symbolism resembled the main idea of the new album, and it fully illustrated the sound and atmosphere of its songs.
