WINTERHAWK "There And Back Again" [12" 2-LP, Black Vinyl, Gatefold]
2024 - Hard Rock from United States
Detailed Description
In 1982, Winterhawk released their own LP "Revival". The sprawling hard rock with heavy metal tendencies and many two-part guitar solos was once only distributed in the Chicago area, but at some point collectors became aware of the record. In 1998, this brought the label Monster Records onto the scene, which specialized for a time in American hard rock and heavy metal between the late 70s and early 80s. Winterhawk quickly became a name in the scene. However, the sensation was only complete when the opportunity arose to rework an early live recording from 1978 and also release it on CD. With its impressive sound quality, "There And Back Again" takes things up a notch. The joy of playing cannot be described in words and the two-part guitar solos alone should win a Grammy. The album is reminiscent of the early days of Rush ("Rush", "Fly By Night"), while the band takes on the sprawl of southern rock. The songwriting is also convincing, and "captivating" is an understatement.
